Acting Abbot:
On December 15, 1967 Geshe Jampa Khetsun was born to Yali family in Kham Chating province of Tibet. At the age of 11 he was admitted in a primary school. In 1983 he joined Sermey monastery where he begun to study the five Main Texts. As a result of his through studies of Perfection of Wisdom text, Geshe-la received the first rank of Rigchung.
His masters asked him to start the teachings in 1993. Since then he begun to teach extensively to number of students and still is giving teachings on the five main texts. After the completion of the Five Main Texts in 1994, he partook in the Geshe Lhamram examinations for the duration of six years. As a result he was conferred on Geshe Lharampa 1999. But the ban on Shugden practice bared him to join Gyutoe Tantric Collage.
He has received teachings, transmissions and empowerments from Maha Pandita Jetsun Yeshi Wangchug, Khensur Lobsang Nyudup Rinpoche and so on.
For the sake of Buddhism and living beings; and regardless of physical difficulty and comfort, and Venerable Geshe-la has been continuing his teachings to hundreds of philosophy students since 1993. His kindness and spiritual contribution are immeasurable, and we hold in great esteem venerable Geshe-la, the scholar of Buddhism and Buddhist philosophy. And he is at present an acting abbot of Serpom Monastery. |
